Custom plugins
You need WordPress to do something it doesn't do yet.
Sometimes no plugin fits, or five of them together do the job badly. A small, purpose-built plugin is often simpler, faster and safer. I've published seven of my own on wordpress.org, and I build yours the same way.
Does this sound familiar?
- You're stacking several plugins to get one feature.
- A plugin does almost what you need, but not quite.
- Your theme's functions file has grown into something nobody dares touch.
- You need WordPress to talk to another system.
What I do about it
- Design a plugin around your exact need, and keep it small.
- Write clean, documented code that follows WordPress standards.
- Test it on your real setup, including upgrades.
- Hand it over with documentation, or look after it for you.
How it works
Step 1
We talk
A free call about what you need it to do, and what you've already tried.
Step 2
Agree the plan
I propose the simplest approach, with time and cost, in plain language.
Step 3
Build and test
You try it as it takes shape, and I test it against your real site.
Step 4
Hand over
You get the plugin, the documentation and a walk-through.

Questions you might have
Who owns the plugin?
We agree that up front, in writing, before any work starts.
Will it survive WordPress updates?
I build to WordPress standards and test against new releases, so it should. Maintenance is available if you'd like me to keep an eye on it.
Could you extend an existing plugin instead?
Often that's the better answer. I'll tell you honestly which route is simpler.
“Matt did a fantastic job — as he has done with the other 2 projects he helped me with! Matt is extremely professional, understands the problem right away, asks the right questions, and is a pleasure to work with. 10/10 would recommend!”
